Robert F. Dolo - Cataract Surgeon, founder and Executive Director

 

Robert F. Dolo is the founder and Executive Director of the New Sight Eye Center, which was founded 2009 after completing three

consecutive years of worked (regular rural community eye screening program) with Unite For Sight and Crystal Eye Clinic in Ghana.  

Robert completed advanced ophthalmic degree in cataract surgeon  at SheIkh Zayed Regional Ophthalmic Training Program in The Gambia 2009/2010. 

He received advanced diploma in professional nursing at the Winifred J. Harley College of Health Sciences (United Methodist University) in Liberia 2000/2003 and received an advanced diploma in ophthalmic nursing from the Ophthalmic Nursing Training School (Korle Bu Teaching Hospital) in Ghana2004/2005. 

Robert received certificates in Project Management and Human Resource Management from the Leader Factory Group of Pan-African Institute in Accra, Ghana 2009.  

He also received a diploma in leadership in disaster public health systems management and infectious disease from the Defense institute for Medical Operation from the USA Embassy in Liberia 2006.

Cathy Cameron-Co-Chairman

 

Cathy Cameron, MHSc is an independent project manager with more than 15 years  experience coordinating health services research and evaluation studies both within Canada, where she is based, and in Africa. She has worked with private, government, research and not-for-profit organizations in the areas of cancer, osteoporosis, health services delivery, and HIV and disability. She has in-depth experience using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. In 2007, Cathy was a volunteer in Accra, Ghana with Unite for Sight.

Taygan Yilmaz - Member

 

Tay graduated from Fordham University in 2004 with a degree in environmental studies. After spending several years doing ophthalmic photography and performing research at the New England Retina Associates and theMassachusetts Eye Research and Surgery  Institute,

he obtained a masters of public health degree from The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. He is currently a graduate student in outcomes research at Stony Brook University. He is a former volunteer for Unite for Sight in Ghana.  

 

Brian T. Fowler-Member

Brian Fowler is an Ophthalmology Resident at Hamilton Eye Institute in Memphis, Tennessee.  He completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Florida and his medical degree at The University of Virginia.  In addition to pursuing a career in ophthalmology, his professional interests include increasing access to eye care for the poor both locally and internationally. 

He has worked with the non-profit organization, Unite for Sight, which included a medical mission trip to Ghana.  He has several publications in medicine and is currently working on three publications in ophthalmology.  Dr. Fowler lives in East Memphis with his wife of six years, Abbie, and his two boys, Jack & Lee, 3 years old and 1.5 years old respectively.  Abbie is a 3rd grade teacher for Presbyterian Day School.  Brian and Abbie are avid readers, runners, and are members of 2nd Presbyterian Church.
